Flashdance the Musical Heading for the West End

Time to get your leg warmers and torn T shirts out again, as producers have been checking out the Shaftesbury Theatre as a possible destination for Flashdance the Musical.  The theatre is currently home to Hairspray which is booking to 24th October in the West End, with a touring production starting in March.

In 2008 Flashdance had its world premiere in Plymouth before doing a national tour. It was produced by David Ian, choreographed by Arlene Phillips and  billed as "the theatrical event of the year".

Flashdance the Musical is adapted from the 1980s film about an exotic dancer who is a welder by profession and dreams of getting a place at a dance school to become a ballet dancer. The film featured the songs “Maniac” and “Flashdance ... What a Feeling” which won an Academy Award.
